Laguna Pest Control Supports the Launch of Second Edition Sustainability Guidelines

Businesses Uniting to Guarantee Sustainability (B.U.G.S.) has launched the second edition of the Pest Management Industry Sustainability Guidelines at the Federation of Asian and Oceania Pest Management Associations (FAOPMA) Annual Conference, held July 14–16 in Penang, Malaysia.

Laguna Pest Control was proud to be there, backing these new guidelines and reaffirming our commitment to sustainable pest management. Since COVID, our Keen For Green Initiative has been driving eco-conscious change in the industry through:

The updated B.U.G.S. guidelines provide pest management professionals (PMPs) worldwide with a practical roadmap to meet rising corporate sustainability expectations and thrive in an economy moving toward carbon neutrality.

With governments and corporations committing to net-zero emissions, PMPs should be expected to measure, report, and reduce their environmental impact. Sustainability isn’t optional anymore  –  it’s essential for doing business.

Key highlights of the guidelines include:

  • Preparing for mandatory climate disclosures
  • Measuring and reporting Scope 1, 2 & 3 emissions (Greenhouse Gas Protocol)
  • Sustainable procurement and supplier compliance
  • Transitioning fleets and facilities to low-carbon operations
  • Avoiding greenwashing and achieving genuine ESG alignment
  • Gaining competitive advantage through verified sustainability practices

For pest control companies, these steps aren’t just about compliance  – they’re about staying competitive, retaining contracts, and securing long-term business success.
